THIS YEAR CELEBRATE THE LUNAR NEW YEAR OF THE WOOD SNAKE. Festivities culminate on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. Happy New Year!!! This is really the centrally located downtown hub of Honolulu Chinatown produce markets. There are a wide variety of fresh fish and pork as well as beef meats, a wide-ranging selection of popular Chinese vegetables and fruits outlets. Their displays are inviting, very fresh and colorful as well as inexpensive. Shoppers from throughout the Honolulu community throng the street especially for freshly cut inexpenisive produce from farm to market to table. Focused shoppers are especially on the look-out for the special bargains of the day. U.S. and other Western business schools focus their training involving the four (4) Ps, which include product, price, place and promotion. The Chinese model is far simpler. They rely of word-of-mouth for their successful advertising. These markets are without a doubt, social gathering places for women (and men) of all ages. Having dispensed with marketing, these Chinese markets rely on ONLY price and product (their two (2) Ps) to move their produce. It has stood the test of countless centuries and untold number of customers in Chinese markets around the world. The model is a low cost, highly successful tested model. The Honolulu Chinatown markets are no exception. Come, please verify my claim.

My go-to market whenever I try to find affordable and rare ingredients, such as pandan, red chilies, vietnamese coriander to cook my ethnic food, that might not be available in supermarkets. The place is not pretentious and not expensive but manage your expectations when you enter an Asian wet market: it is wet and noisy. I like the experience of finding fresh ingredients for cheap. I recommend parking at the municipal parking where it's comparatively cheaper and there is a lot of spots close to the area.

Cool spot to come get fresh produce and items. My gf went in to get fresh sushi inside. We walked around the area and got some smoothies and some nice facemasks at a shop. Parking was a bit of a pain but eventually found a spot and walked around for a bit. Def recommend visiting the area.

Great market! A lot of it is outdoors so you can see all the fresh produce and shop between vendors. Some household cooking equipment and clothes for sale also

Great traditional Chinatown market in Honolulu downtown.
