If you’ve been hunting for a Sunday brunch that still feels like a treat without waiting until the holidays, Plumeria Beach House at The Kāhala Hotel & Resort has a new setup — and a short window of kamaʻāina savings.

Aloha State Daily reported on Nov. 5 that the resort’s popular Sunday brunch buffet moved downstairs from the former Hoku’s Kāhala space (now Alan Wong’s) to Plumeria Beach House. Resort executive chef Joe Almoguera told the paper the change happened in September.

The quick facts

  • Where: Plumeria Beach House, The Kāhala Hotel & Resort, 5000 Kāhala Ave., Honolulu
  • When: Sundays, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (breakfast buffet runs until 10:30 a.m., then the team resets for brunch)
  • Price: $97 per adult; $49 for children ages 6 to 12
  • Kamaʻāina deal: 20% off the entire bill through Nov. 25 — no party-size cap (it used to top out around six people)
  • Parking: Complimentary valet or self-parking when dining at Plumeria Beach House
  • Phone: (808) 739-8760

What’s on the buffet

Almoguera told Aloha State Daily the brunch still carries many of the Hoku’s-era favorites. The raw bar includes crab legs, oysters, sashimi, spicy poke and shrimp cocktail. Lobster tails and poke musubis are no longer part of the spread.

The carving station still puts out prime rib and Mountain View Farms suckling pig, and recent Sundays have added roasted tako (octopus) and baked oysters. New hot options include dim sum, and there’s a featured eggs Benedict of the day — one recent version layered Korean barbecue pork and pickled ginger beurre blanc on crispy cake noodles instead of an English muffin. Classic and smoked-salmon Benedicts also rotate through.

Breakfast-side favorites that stuck around include Kāhala thin pancakes with maple butter, mochiko chicken, misoyaki butterfish, seasonal breakfast potatoes and a create-your-own omelet station.

Save room for dessert

The dessert station still has the chocolate fountain (strawberries, churros and marshmallows for dipping), Kāhala bread pudding with crème anglaise and coconut cake. Almoguera said the house “Kahalasadas” — the resort’s take on malasadas — have been popular so far.

Why the timing matters

The 20% kamaʻāina discount runs “right before Thanksgiving,” Almoguera confirmed to Aloha State Daily, and it now applies to your whole party. With Thanksgiving on Nov. 26 this year, you’ve got a few Sundays left to use it — including this weekend if you’re ready to book.
