[REVIEW: legal] This is a plain-language draft based on how the site is built. It is not legal advice. Have it reviewed, fill in the placeholders, and add the effective date before launch.
Effective date: [PLACEHOLDER: date]
This policy explains what information Oahu Local ([PLACEHOLDER: legal business name]) collects on oahulocal.com, how we use it, and your choices.
Information you give us
- Newsletter: your email address, the date you signed up, and which signup form you used. We use it to send the newsletter.
- Forms: what you enter in our contact, tip, event and sponsorship forms. If you send a tip anonymously, we do not store your name, email or phone.
Information collected automatically
Our web host keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses and browser type, for security. To limit spam, our forms keep a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for up to one hour. [REVIEW: business-specific: describe your analytics tool, for example a cookie-free tool or Google Analytics, and any cookies it sets.]
Services we use
- Website hosting: Hostinger.
- Newsletter delivery: [PLACEHOLDER: newsletter platform, e.g. beehiiv], which receives your email address to send the newsletter.
- Spam protection: Cloudflare Turnstile, if enabled on our forms.
- Analytics: [PLACEHOLDER: analytics provider].
How long we keep information
Newsletter subscribers stay on our list until they unsubscribe. Form submissions are kept as long as needed to respond and for our records, and no longer than [PLACEHOLDER: period].
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter anytime with the link in every email. To see, correct or delete information we hold about you, contact us. We do not sell personal information.
Children
Our site is meant for a general audience and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes and contact
We will post any changes on this page with a new effective date. Questions: [PLACEHOLDER: privacy contact email].
